Mia Anstine Appointed to Colorado Outdoor Partnership

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) and the Colorado Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are pleased to welcome new members to the Colorado Outdoor Partnership (CO-OP) and among them is Mia Anstine, of Ignacio, Colo., representing Safari Club International (SCI).

Organizations involved in the CO-OP represent the intersection of conservation and outdoor recreation interests related to land, water, and wildlife in Colorado.

The DNR in consultation with CPW and the CO-OP will establish a state-level vision for balancing recreation and conservation while ensuring equitable and sustainable access to outdoor recreation. This vision will guide a Statewide Conservation and Recreation Plan informed by priorities set by local and regional collaborations throughout the state of Colorado.

Anstine has been involved with SCI for ten years. She has also worked with CPW as an Aquatic Nuisance Species educator, served on the CPW Sportsperson’s Roundtable Committee, testified at the state Capitol, and at CPW Commission hearings in an effort to ensure lifelong sustainability of her home state’s conservation programs.

“I’m honored to have been selected as a voice for sportspersons and wildlife in the effort to meld outdoor recreation and conservation programs,” Anstine said.

In addition to the work Anstine has done with SCI and other conservation outlets she is a mother, an outdoor writer, licensed outfitter, hunting guide, life coach, keynote speaker, and a range safety officer, firearms instructor, and archery instructor. She is the founder of MAC Outdoors and Host of the MAC Outdoors Podcast.

The CO-OP is the lead entity on the Regional Partnership Initiative that was formalized when Governor Polis signed Executive Order B 2020 008 this past October. Anstine is one of the appointees selected from over 175 people from across the state to serve.

“We’ve long known we need to expand and balance representation on the CO-OP and are pleased that this process has allowed us to do so,” said CPW Director Dan Prenzlow. “We are looking forward to working with our new members to help us successfully carry out the Regional Partnerships Initiative.”
