As September 1st approaches, it’s time to gear up for dove hunting season! Equipment is essential to a successful and enjoyable hunt, whether you’re a seasoned hunter or just getting started. This year, I’ve curated a selection of gear for dove hunting, plus clothing that blends style, comfort, and performance—because you should never have to sacrifice looking good for feeling good in the field.
Check out my Amazon Storefront for a collection of women’s hunting apparel and gear to help you focus on the hunt while looking and feeling your best. Here’s a sneak peek of what you’ll find:
Essential Gear for Dove Hunting
- Brush Pants—This pants style offers durability and protection for hunting through dense fields. Brush pants are designed to withstand thorns, stickers, and briars while keeping you comfortable in the field.
- Quilted Vests & Jackets—Quilted vests or jackets are essential layering pieces in the field when you embark on a crisp morning hunt, and temperatures rise.
- Upland Vests—While the upland vest is traditionally viewed as a piece for pheasants, quail, and the like, it’s a functional and versatile piece of gear. Choose a vest with plenty of pockets for shells, decoys, and other gear, plus use the game pocket to stow your doves.
- UPF +50 Shirts—This layering piece helps you stay protected from the sun’s harsh rays with UPF +50 shirts. These lightweight, breathable shirts keep you cool and protected during those hot, sunny days.
- Orange Caps—Safety first! An orange cap ensures visibility in the field while also protecting your skin.
- Recoil Pads—Hopefully, you’ll be doing a lot of shooting. Don’t let shooting flinch shorten your day. Recoil pads provide extra cushion to keep you comfortable when multiple shots are taken.
- Eye and Ear Protection—Eye and ear protection is essential for safety and will help you stay focused and aware during your hunt.
- Wingshooter Dove Belts—Keep your shells and other essentials close at hand with a wingshooter dove belt. It’s designed for easy access and comfortable wear during long hunts.
- Dove Decoys—Use realistic dove decoys to attract birds within shooting range. Stationary and mobile decoys are great for increasing your chances of success in the field.
- Bucket/Cooler Backpack Stools—Unlike pheasant and quail hunts, which may entail miles of walking, a dove hunt might involve hours spent in one location of a field. Thus, a place to sit becomes necessary. In this list, I’ve included traditional bucket seats, lids to put on a bucket you already have, and other versatile stools, which double as coolers, making them perfect for carrying gear and keeping refreshments cool.
- Hunting Stools—Stay comfortable and ready with a lightweight, portable hunting stool. It’s perfect for setting up in your favorite spot and waiting for the doves to come in.
And More…
From gloves to backpacks and everything in between, my Storefront has the gear you need to make this dove season your best. I’ve selected items with women hunters in mind, ensuring a perfect blend of functionality, comfort, and style.

Love the list! I know you are short, so what pants do you wear when hunting, and how do you handle the long lengths that are standard.
Great question! I have a couple different pairs of brush pants but also LIKE a long inseam so that if I’m sitting, I don’t get burrs or briars on my socks (I also sometimes wear gaitors). However, the Beretta brush pants have a draw-string cinch at the bottom, PLUS a hook–so they don’t fall over your boots and the hook keeps them down to your boot. ALSO, all of Girls with Guns pants have adjustable hems!
