International YHEC Competition a Success for LG [Video]

We feel so fortunate to have been able to attend this year’s NRA YHEC International competition. LG improved upon last year’s scores in most events. It’s a pleasure to see her learning and growing.

YHEC includes shooting and responsibility courses. The competitors shoot shotgun, muzzleload, archery and .22 rifle. They also have to show their skills via a hunter’s responsibility test, muzzleload test, orienteering course and test, hunter safety trail and wildlife identification test.

With over 300 young men and women in attendance, it’s always amazing to see the skill and determination they elicit. The competition is fierce. Despite the end goal of being named “best in the nation,” the highlight is always the manners of the kids and their families. We’ve met so many friendly faces this week.
