I woke up this morning and contemplated a new blog post. As I sat here, sipping my coffee, I remembered why I started writing my blog and who I started writing for. I began my blog to share stories. I shared those stories with my grandpa. As I wrote, I was talking to him. I was sharing something with him that he didn’t do. He may not have been a hunter, but he was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He, along with many others, helped to build our country.
Grandpa passed away just one year ago. It was with great sadness that he spent his last couple of years. He watched the news and surfed the internet with grief on his mind. He was saddened that so many people had seemed to forget his and his company’s efforts.
Today I think of him.
I think of my grandfather and many other people’s grandfathers, the men, the women, and many families’ children, who GIVE ALL. They are BRAVE. They stand for our country. They STAND UP for us all. They have more HONOR than some in top positions in our country. They are the ultimate status symbols. We cannot repay for the giving, the sacrifice, and the deeds performed.
Today, on Veteran’s Day, I pray.
I pray the people of our country will HONOR YOU. I pray the people of our country will RESPECT YOU. I pray the people of our country will RECOGNIZE YOU for YOUR GREATNESS. I pray the people of our country will stand up with as much DIGNITY AND PRIDE AS YOU.
Today, on Veteran’s Day, I THANK YOU!!!!

A wonderful tribute Mia. My grandfather was in the USAF as well and my dad and two brothers in the other branches. Veterans Day is a time to reflect on many of the freedoms we take for granted because so many of our brothers and sisters volunteer to stand on that wall and face out towards the enemies of liberty. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy many of the things (like hunting as a “commoner”) that make America so very special.
So very true Tom. Thanks for the reminder. I will not take our freedoms for granted.
