Votes Scheduled to Avoid Government Shutdown, But Will Congress Get to Work?
Both chambers are set to vote on legislation that will fund the government untilDecember 11, at which point a long-term budget deal must be reached. Here’s our take. ~ Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership
“We’re relieved to see a clean continuing resolution poised to pass in time to temporarily avoid a government shutdown, which could have had an impact on sportsmen’s access at one of the best times of year for hunting and fishing,” says Whit Fosburgh, president and CEO of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership. “But our organization and others will keep urging lawmakers to hammer out a long-term bipartisan budget deal that doesn’t give short shrift to conservation and ensures some level of certainty before the wee hours of December 11.”
Inspired by the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt, the TRCP is a coalition of organizations and grassroots partners working together to preserve the traditions of hunting and fishing. Ensuring sportsmen’s access to quality fish and wildlife habitat safeguards the $646-billion contribution that sportsmen make to the American economy.
