Anstine Receives SCI President’s Award

I am SCI’s Regional Representative (RR) for the state of Colorado, where I work to support chapters in their outreach and growth efforts. At the February board meeting, I received the Regional Representative of the Year award. At the May virtual board meeting, President Scott Chapman honored me with a President’s Award. The recognition is presented for my commitment and high level of service to the organization.

I work and volunteer immensely in the outdoor community, even beyond SCI and encourage you to do a little giving too. Comment below if you want ideas about how you can make a difference or give back.

I continually strive to be a mentor to others. I encourage everyone to get outside, hunt, fish, shoot, and savor all that life has to offer. I’m a rancher, outdoor writer, keynote speaker, hunting guide, life coach, happiness coach, and archery and firearms instructor — And a volunteer!

A few of the many areas where I donate my time:

Colorado Outdoor Partnership

I am an appointee to the Governor’s Colorado Outdoor Partnership (CO-OP) as a sportsmen’s representative. The partnership is involved with the intersection of conservation and outdoor recreation interests. Through this position, I provide the voice of a hunter, wildlife lover, mother, and hunting guide. I hope to help the CO-OP make a cohesive plan that will benefit all of Coloradans who love the outdoors.

Rural Colorado and Sportsmen’s Representative

Last fall, I worked hard to oppose proposition 114 and the ballot box biology that would require the state to place additional wolves in Colorado. The measure passed by a narrow margin. Now I’m working in conjunction with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Department of Natural Resources to ensure that rural Colorado has a voice during the addition of wolves onto Colorado’s landscape.

DC Project Colorado Delegate

Recently, I took a trip to Washington D.C. with several of the women of the D.C. Project. We met with over 40 U.S. Legislators where we urged that they ensure that firearms safety and violence prevention is achieved through education, not added legislation.

While I volunteer in a considerable capacity, the work is ongoing. Being awarded is humbling and an honor. Many thanks to SCI and the other organizations who assist in ensuring that our great outdoors and traditions remain for future generations to enjoy.

These are only a few of the many things that I do to make sure our rights to hunt, fish, shoot, and recreate are protected. It’s an honor to receive the SCI President’s Award. I plan to continue to make a difference in our communities.
