Women, apply now for a chance at a private land, mentored turkey hunt with CPW
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Parks and Wildlife is accepting applications for a chance to participate in a guided, women-only turkey hunt on private land made available by Encana, near Parachute. The hunts are scheduled for April 22-23.
Women 18-and-older who are true novices and want to learn turkey hunting techniques from experienced mentors are encouraged to apply. No experience or equipment is required; however, all applicants must have a valid Hunter Education card.
The mentored hunt is offered through CPW’s Women Afield Program, dedicated to teaching basic skills in hunting, shooting sports and angling to women.
Space is limited. To apply, visit the registration link on CPW’s website. The deadline is 5 p.m., March 31. Hunt dates and additional information are included in the hunt application.

Turkey hunting continues to grow in popularity across North America, attracting a wide variety of participants, including experienced hunters looking for a new challenge or inexperienced men, women and youth that prefer small game as their first step.
The Women Afield program is one component of CPW’s Hunter Outreach Program, dedicated to teaching women and novice hunters the knowledge, skills, ethics, and traditions of hunting. Through workshops, clinics, seminars, and educational hunts, the program appeals to diverse interests, backgrounds, and levels of ability.
